Hilton Garden Inn hotel will open in Évora in a 21Million EUR investment.

A new hotel will be built in Évora, the Hilton Garden Inn, expected to be completed next year, in a project of the Mercan Group, involving an investment of 21 million euros, it was revealed this Wednesday.

The symbolic start of the construction of the hotel unit took place this Tuesday, with the laying of the first stone, said the Mercan Group today, which expects the construction of the hotel to be completed "in 2022.

The Hilton Garden Inn Évora, which will be located next to Rossio de São Brás, "less than 10 minutes from the historical center" of the Alentejo city, is a project by Mercan, a Canada-based group, in a partnership with RA Group - Referência Arrojada Group.

"Évora has enormous potential as a tourist destination, both for Portuguese and foreigners," pointed out Grupo Mercan vice-president Jordi Vilanova.

According to the responsible, this new project "is a reflection of the confidence that international investors have in Portugal, and that goes beyond the focus on large metropolises" because, for the Évora hotel alone, the promoters have "75 foreign investors".

The unit, with an area of more than eight thousand square meters, will have 130 rooms and an outdoor rooftop pool, with a bar and terrace.

A restaurant, gym, and a meeting room with a capacity for up to 130 people are other project's features.

According to the developer group, the hotel "will create 95 direct jobs when it becomes operational," this first phase, which concerns construction, will involve "80 permanent workers.

"Close to the center of Évora and the main historical points of the city, the hotel will stand out for its vibrant, modern, and sophisticated atmosphere where the exterior space is combined with the ingenious details of the architecture and with a welcoming decoration inside, to create a unique experience to those who visit," said Mercan.

The architectural project has the signature of Rui Silva Russo, Atelier de Arquitetura, and Nano Design studio will design the interiors. The project management will be the responsibility of Engexpor, while the construction work is the responsibility of Tecniarte.

This is the second project that Mercan Group and RA Group announce this year, as the symbolic start of the construction of the hotel in Évora takes place "one week after the laying of the first stone" of the Renaissance Park Hotel -- Porto, in an investment of 56 million euros.
