Porto and China strengthen their historic and heritage relationship with a meeting in Serralves and Mercan Portugal attended this event.

During the morning of December 2, at a breakfast organized by the Luso-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCILC) and the Portugal-Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHKCCI), at the Serralves Foundation, the Mayor from Porto, Rui Moreira, had the opportunity to mention the importance of Chinese investment and the relationship between the city of Porto and China. One of the most important points calculated the relationship between Porto and Shenzhen and Shanghai, the latter having a twinning protocol.

Rui Moreira recalled the “very important Chinese community” that lives in Porto and that “shares every moment with us ”. “We have historic stores in the city and we believe that this heritage is part of the city's heritage and is very relevant for a city like Porto”, shares the mayor.


Rui Moreira could not fail to bring to a meeting of this nature are the “historical relationships with China” that the city has nurtured for many years. Starting with the “privileged relationship” and already traditional with Macau, the mayor underlined the proximity to Shenzhen province, manifested during the pandemic.
